Restaurant: Opaline

The restaurant is a square room with an entry in the corner as you enter. Straight ahead on the right side is a bar that seats up to 14 people. The balance of the restaurant is filled with 2,4, and 6 tops including one table as you enter that seats up to 8.

When full, the restaurant seats 103 people. It is not affiliated with any other restaurant.

Debbie and I went to the restaurant with Carol and Joel and were seated in a corner of the restaurant, opposite the reception desk and located, at an outside window.

Carol ordered Croque Monsieur which came with mornay, petite salade.

Joel ordered Escargots – garlic parsley butter, mini baguette followed by Free Range Chicken Breast – mornay, maitake mushrooms, madeira reduction.

For dessert Carol and Joel selected Vanilla Crème Brulée.

Debbie started with French Onion Soup – gruyere, crostini. For her main course she chose Tuna Nicoise – haricots verts, marbled potato, pickled onion, caper vinaigrette. For dessert she selected Chocolate Pot De Crème.

Mike began with Beets & Bucheron – heirloom apple, pistachio, pickled onion, cider vinaigrette. For the main course I selected Duck a l’Orange – cauliflower, baby carrot, cipollini onion. For dessert I chose Dame Blanche – vanilla gelato, hot fudge, wafer cookie.

Each of us were quite satisfied with our selections.

It is very loud when the restaurant is full, and the loudness does not seem to lessen when the restaurant is half empty.

The restrooms are located off the lobby of the hotel. It is an elaborate area to the left of the large desk at which people check in and out of the hotel.

There are a couple of small, closed door commode areas each with a small white ceramic wash basins next to the wall hanging commode. In addition, there is a large area that has a row of 3 large white ceramic floor-based wash basins with mirrors above.

The floors are covered with large green tiles.
