President Joe Biden is set to tap Admiral Lisa Franchetti to lead the Navy which would make her the first woman to serve as a member of the military’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, according to a Defense Department official. [Politico7/21/23]


FIFA increased the Women’s World Cup prize money to $110 million up from $30 million. It still trails the prize money at the recent men’s World Cup in Qatar: $440 million, or four times as much. [NYT 7/22/23]
