Restaurant: The Pembroke

Tony, Elissa, Debbie and I first visited the Pembroke on a Saturday night. The Pembroke was recently opened in the Dupont Circle Hotel as part of a renovation of the hotel in its entirety. We had a 6:30 p.m. reservation.

You enter the restaurant through the hotel and there is a greeter’s station at the entrance to the restaurant. Straight ahead is a square bar which has seating for about 17 people on three sides. Continue reading “Restaurant: The Pembroke”

Restaurant: 1310 Kitchen & Bar

[I should note that I have previously written about restaurants that are owned and operated by women:

  • I Ricchi – Christine Ricchi, owner/chef – This is the restaurant at which I have the most meals in any given year
  • ris – Ris Lacoste, owner/chef]

1310 Kitchen & Bar and DeCarlo’s represent the new and the not so new with both comfort and good food in common.

Remember the Daily Grill? (WW Aug 2005) Its Georgetown location closed sometime last year and 1310 Kitchen & Bar opened in its space on the main floor of the Georgetown Inn.

The executive chef and operator is Jenn Crovato. Crovato has a long successful culinary career in D.C., including time at Galileo, Susan Gage Catering, as a personal chef and doing independent catering. She also trained in Italy. Continue reading “Restaurant: 1310 Kitchen & Bar”

Restaurant: XOCHI

Debbie and I went to this restaurant with Steve, Rachel, Max, Coby, Jen, Ben, Abby, Eli, William, Dale and Susan.

As you enter the restaurant there are sections of tables to the right and left and just past the entrance there is an L shaped bar that seats 21 people. Overall the restaurant seats 190 people inside and another 60 people on the patio. There are a series of 2, 4, 5, 6 tops as well as larger tables including the one at which we were seated.
